About Clean Atom

Understanding energy in the age of AI: Europe’s green transition is changing the way we think about energy, technology and sustainability. At the same time, young people are navigating an increasingly complex information environment shaped by social media, Artificial Intelligence and misinformation.
Clean Atom connects these two challenges: The project combines energy literacy, AI, critical thinking, media literacy and inclusive learning to make complex scientific topics more understandable and relevant to young people. With a particular focus on students aged 14–18 from vocational, rural and socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, the project creates accessible ways to explore nuclear energy, the European Green Deal, energy security and the information that shapes public debate.

Our objectives

01 — Strengthen Energy Literacy: Help young people better understand nuclear energy, low-carbon technologies and their relationship with Europe’s green transition.
02 — Develop AI & Digital Literacy: Build the capacity of students and educators to use AI critically and recognise misinformation, deepfakes and algorithmic bias.
03 — Make STEM Learning More Inclusive: Use accessible language, visual learning, Universal Design for Learning and gamification to make complex scientific knowledge easier to engage with.
04 — Empower Educators: Provide teachers with practical AI tools, prompt-engineering skills and educational resources for addressing complex scientific topics.
